LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men’s basketball team (1-2) downed Wilmington University (Del.) 83-71 in Thomas Fieldhouse in the Bald Eagles 2008 home opener.
Lock Haven was led by a solid night shooting as The Haven picked up its first win of ’08.
LHU head coach John Wilson’s troops shot 50 percent from the field and 40 percent from behind the three-point line. Lock Haven was looking good at the line as well as LHU knocked down 83 percent from the free throw line.
The win marked the first of the year for the Bald Eagles, who controlled much of the contest tonight on their home court.
LHU is 1-2 overall while WU falls to 1-4 on the year.
The Bald Eagles offense was paced by four players in double-digits scoring.
Leading the way for The Haven tonight was a familiar face for Bald Eagles fans. Senior Billy Arre (Pittsburgh/Thomas Jefferson) led all scorers with a game-high 25 points. Arre also pulled in a game-high six rebounds.
Arre is now just 50 points away from becoming the school’s all-time scoring leader.
Warren Christian (Baltimore/Catonsville C.C) scored 15 points and grabbed five rebounds. He also had three blocks and made one steal.
Erin Brennan (Chester, Pa./West Catholic) continued to play well and scored 10 points to go along with four assists, two blocks, a steal and a rebound.
Jarrell Spence (Philadelphia/Scotland) added 12 points.
The Bald Eagles are back in action on Friday, Nov. 28 at 6 p.m. when they play Armstrong Atlantic College as part of the University of Charleston Subway Basketball Classic.
