CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Lock Haven University men’s basketball team (1-4) was edged 62-60 by the University of Charleston (4-1) in a thriller that was part of the Charleston Subway Basketball Classic.
Despite a six-point halftime lead, it was a John White tip-in with just two seconds left in the game that gave Charleston the win its own Eddie King Gymnasium.
Senior Billy Arre (Pittsburgh/Thomas Jefferson) was again the leader for the Bald Eagles with another big double-double. He pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds to go along with a team-high 17 points.
Today’s 17-point outing puts Arre just 15 away from breaking the LHU scoring record for career points.
Warren Christian (Baltimore, Md./Catonsville C.C.) was again solid for LHU with a 11-point day. He flirted with a double-double, grabbing nine rebounds.
Jarrell Spence (Philadelphia/Scotland School), Tyrone Palmer (Darby, Pa./Parkway) and Eric Brennan (Chester, Pa./West Catholic) all contributed to the scoring with nine, eight and seven points, respectively.
Lock Haven shot 43 percent from the field and was extremely solid at the line, shooting 90 percent.
Lock Haven is back in action on Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m. when the Bald Eagles play host to West Chester University.
