LHU Swimming - Women

Pair of Lady Eagle swimmers in action at Grove City

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Two members of the Lock Haven University swim team took to the pool the last two days and turned in some solid performances.

Competing at the 12th annual James E. Longnecker Invitational, hosted by Grove City College were sophomores Ashley Gardner (Smyrna, Del./Dover) and Amanda Terray (Coaldale, Pa./Panther Valley).

Terray led the way as she turned in a solid outing in the 50 freestyle on Friday (Dec. 5) night. She was second overall with a time of 24.96.

Terray took the pool early this morning in one of her bread-and-butter events, the 100 backstroke and looked sensational. She took home the victory in a pool record time of 58.42. Terray’s time of 58.42 was also a meet record and a NCAA “B” cut time.

Terry wasn’t done there, as she came back tonight and won the 200 backstroke in meet record time of 2:09.52, also a NCAA “B” cut time.

Gardner was 11th in today’s 400 IM and placed 18th in the 200 IM last night. She capped off a tough 400 IM – 100 Butterfly double earlier today, by grabbing a season-best mark in the 100 Butterfly event (1:17.27).

LHU head coach Andy Waeger was quite pleased with efforts of both athletes today.

The Lady Eagles are now off until they travel to Cocoa Beach, Fla. for winter training following the holiday season. LHU officially returns on the pool on Friday, Jan. 16, 2009 at 6 p.m. when Lock Haven hosts Millersville University. Both teams dive into the Zimmerli Pool at 6 p.m.

Don’t forget to check out LHU head coach Andy Waeger’s blog for the all the latest on the Lady Eagles.
