Track and Field kicks off 2008-09 indoor season at Bucknell
 

LEWISBURG Pa. – The Lock Haven University men’s and women’s track and field teams kicked off their 2008-09 indoor season at Bucknell University.

Both the Bald and Lady Eagles turned in some solid early season performances.

Leading the way for the men’s side was Chris Edelman (Elverson, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) and Kevin Moore (Twin Valley High School), who both picked up first place finishes.

Edelman took first in the 400 meter dash with time of 49.99, while Moore was first at 300 meters with a time of 36.01. Edelman was second in the 300 with a time of 36.17.

Greg Mock (Sicklerville, N.J./Timbercreek) had a strong day in the sprinting events for the Bald Eagles. He was third in the 60 meter dash (6.90) and fourth at 200 meters (22.99).

The 200 meter event looks to be a solid one for the LHU men. Steve Roberts (Quakertown High School) was seventh with a time of 23.20 and Preston Faulkner (Trappe, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) was eighth with a time of 23.21.

Ben McConnell (Danville, Pa./Danville) was second in the 800 with a time of 1:59.19.

Randy Sylvia (Johnstown, Pa./Richland) was fifth in the men’s weight throw (16.35 m).

The Bald Eagles 4x400 meter relay team was third with a very solid early season time of 3:24.64.

Leading the way for the Lady Eagles today was three-time All-American Chelsea Morse (Beaver Dams, N.Y./Campbell), who picked up right where she left off last spring. The junior won the women’s high jump (1.65 m) kicking off her season on the right foot.

Lauren Edelman (Elverson, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) was third in the high jump (1.60 m).

Christian Ohmott (Hatboro-Horsham High School) was second in the pole vault with a mark of 3.30 meters.

Meagan Wolfe (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) was seventh at 300 meters with a time of 43.12.

Alaina Leonard (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern) and Vanita Moses (Neshaminy High School) were fifth and seventh, respectively in the weight throw.

Both teams return on action in 2009 as they travel to the Penn State Relays. The meet is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 10 at 9 a.m.
