Women’s Soccer Adds Two Fresh Faces to Coaching Staff
 

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Lock Haven University women’s soccer coach Heather Davis has announced the hiring of two graduate assistants coaches who will be joining the Lady Eagles.

Kerri Schmidt and Kim Fish both bring with them a wealth of soccer knowledge that will help this rich-program onto continued success. Schmidt is already in Lock Haven working with the team while Fish will not be joining the squad until the spring semester.

Schmidt, a Ridgewood, New Jersey native began her collegiate career at American University in 2000 after a highly decorated high school career. She was also a part of three consecutive PDA Torpedo championships.

After her first year at American University Schmidt moved on to Penn State University, where she played during the 2001-2002 seasons.

She currently holds a National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA) National Diploma and a United States Soccer Federation USSF “D” license. She also coaches for the Pennsylvania West Olympic Development Program and is a Premier Coach and Girls Coordinator of Coaching at Second To None (STN) Soccer in nearby Beech Creek, Pa..

"I am very excited to become a member of the women's soccer staff,” Schmidt said. “Lock Haven has a great tradition of academic excellence and competitive athletics, and I am very much looking forward to working with our student-athletes in the fall."

Schmidt graduated Penn State in 2004 with a degrees criminal, law and justice and sociology.

Fish comes to the Haven after wrapping up her collegiate career at Florida Southern University. Fish had in outstanding career in the net for the Mocs after starting 48 games in her career.

Last season, she finished second in the Sunshine State Conference (SSC) with 105 saves (6.2 per game), which ranked her as one of the top goalies in the country. On the season, she racked up a 1.81 goals against average.

During her career, Fish was named SSC Player of the Week three times. She leaves the program as the schools leader in goals against average (1.59) and shutouts (7).

Fish will look to play an instrumental role in furthering the development of the Lady Eagles goalkeepers while aiding in all other coaching capacities.

"I feel extremely honored to be joining the Lock Haven athletic staff, and look forward to working with coach Davis and the team,” Fish said. I have always dreamt of being able to coach at the collegiate level and LHU has given me that opportunity.”

Both Schmidt and Fish will enter the Master’s of Education program. Fish will be the G.A. coach during the spring semester as Schmidt will stay on as an assistant coach.

The pair joins the highly optimistic squad coming into the 2007 season after making the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) playoffs after an 8-11-1 season.
