LHU Track And Field

Track & Field hits track for first time in ’09, turns in solid outing at PSU Relays
 

STATE COLLEGE Pa. – The Lock Haven University men’s and women’s track and field teams were in action for the first time in the new calendar year of 2009 as both teams took part in the Penn State Relays.

Both the Bald and Lady Eagles turned in solid performances.

Leading the way for The Haven men was Nick Hilton (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) and Chris Edelman (Elverson, Pa./Owen J. Roberts).

Hilton took first in the mile with a time of 4:20.61 while Edelman was second in the 500 meter dash with a time of 1:04.23, which edged his own school record.

Preston Faulkner (Trappe, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) was fifth in the men’s 60 meter dash. He clocked a 7.17 in the finals.

The men’s 3K proved to be an exciting one for the Bald Eagles as they put four runners in the top eight.

AJ Johnson (Coventry, R.I./Coventry) won the 3K with a time of 8;38.69.

Tim Getz (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) were Jed Yeatts (Mercersburg, Pa./James Buchanan) fourth and fifth with times of 8:51.09 and 8:57.03, respectively.

Chris Bell (Marysville, Pa./Susquenita) added an eight-place finish.

The Lady Eagles had some solid performances as well, including a three-five finish in the weight throw.

Kristina Hamm (Roaring Springs, Pa./Central) was third in the weight throw with a mark of 48-04.50, while Alaina Leonard (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern) placed fifth in the same event (47-02.50).

The Haven women placed first in the 1600 Sprint Medley Relay.

Cassie Snider (Dallas, Pa./Dallas) was fifth in the long jump 16-07.25.
