LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Lock Haven University women’s soccer team (1-1) fell to Kutztown University (1-0) 4-1 despite dominating much of the play throughout the game.
The Lady Eagles had the momentum going early, controlling the flow of the game from the start and throughout much of the first half.
“I was very happy with our first half play,” head coach Heather Davis said. “We just ran out of a gas at the end.”
Kutztown had a limited number of chances early, but they were able to score first in the 13th minute of action.
In the 29th minute junior Bekah Stonecypher (Johnstown, Pa./Westmont Hilltop) scored to tie the game at 1-1. Stonecypher found a loose ball in front of the net off a corner kick and finished it home.
The Lady Eagles came out strong to start the second half and quickly created some opportunities, but they were unable to find the back of the net.
Kutztown would go on to score three goals in the second half.
Senior Emily Wagner (Brick, N.J./Brick Township) made five saves in net.
The Lady Eagles are back in action on Wednesday, Aug. 29 at 4 p.m. when they play host to Clarion University.
