INDIANA, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men’s basketball team (2-14, 0-3 PSAC West) was downed by Indiana (Pa.) University 75-61 tonight on the road in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action.

The Bald Eagles trailed 34-26 at half, but a solid full court press in the second kept Lock Haven head coach John Wilson Jr.’s squad in the game.

Along with its defensive pressure, LHU turned in a solid night at charity stripe, which also helped Lock Haven stay alive down the stretch despite never leading in the second half.

Billy Arre (Pittsburgh/Thomas Jefferson) led the way for The Haven with a game-high 19 points. Arre was a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw stripe, as he led Lock Haven to a sensational night in that category.

LHU went 19-for-24 at the line, shooting 79 percent.

Kelvin McLean (Newport, Va./Heritage) had a tremendous game for LHU as he pulled in a monster double-double.

McLean was solid on both ends, as he netted 15 points to go along with 15 rebounds.

Eleven of McLean’s 15 boards came on the defensive end as he played solid two-way basketball for the Bald Eagles.

Warren Christian (Baltimore/Catonsville C.C.) continued his solid play and flirted with a double-double. He scored 11 points, marking the third Haven player in double figures scoring. To go along with his 11-point night, Christian also pulled down nine boards. He also added two blocks.

IUP shot 51 percent for the game and the Crimson Hawks were led by four players in double figures.

The IUP men received votes (9 points) in this week’s National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division II Coaches Poll, but remained just out of the Top 25.

The Bald Eagles are back in action on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 3 p.m. when The Haven hosts Mercyhurst University in PSAC West action in Thomas Fieldhouse.
