LHU Field Hockey

Wynne named Scholar Athlete, 12 from field hockey squad earn NEC Honor Roll accolades

SOMERSET, N.J. – All-American Blair Wynne (Arima, Trinidad & Tobago/Sangre Grande) has been named a 2008 Northeast Conference (NEC) Scholar Athlete, while 11 of her teammates joined her on the NEC Honor Roll, as the Lock Haven University field hockey team once again excelled both on and off the field as well as in the classroom this past fall.

Wynne, a graduate student turned in a tremendous effort in the classroom this past season, while also leading her team on the field.

Wynne is one of seven NEC Scholar Athletes.

This academic honor comes after Wynne excelled on the playing field during her last season in crimson and white. She earned All-American honors after being named the NEC Player of the Year and NEC Offensive Player of the Year. Wynne was a huge reason why LHU claimed its third consecutive conference tournament title and she was named championship MVP for her efforts.

This prestigious honor helps Wynne, one of the most decorated players in The Haven’s illustrious history, cap off a remarkable career for the Lady Eagles.

Joining Wynne on the NEC Honor roll is Leslie Ahern (Getzville, N.Y./Williamsville North), Megan Albert (Liverpool, Pa./Greenwood), Carly Fry (Newville, Pa./Big Spring), Suzann Hobart (Lewisberry, Pa./Red Land), Amy Hordendorf (Topton, Pa./Brandywine Heights), Jill Houtz (Myerstown, Pa./Eastern Lebanon), Casey Hughes (Schwenksville, Pa./Sounderton), Tonia Marie James (D’Abadie, Trinidad & Tobago/Saint Augustine Girls High), Heather McHugh (Norristown, Pa./Norristown Area), Talitha Jay (Myerstown, Pa./Tulpehocken) and Mary Keister (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg).
