LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Despite a strong second half comeback, the Lock Haven University men’s basketball team (3-18, 1-7 PSAC West) was defeated by Edinboro University (16-5, 6-2 PSAC West) 87-73 this afternoon inside Thomas Fieldhouse in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division contest.
LHU trailed by 15 at halftime, down 43-28 and the Bald Eagles were down by as many as 23 in the second, but they fought back.
The Bald Eagles cut the lead to 11 points late in the second half, but that was as close as the margin would be in the contest.
Lock Haven was led by Billy Arre (Pittsburgh./Thomas Jefferson) and his team-high 26 points. He also had four rebounds, two assists and three steals. Arre was also a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line.
Senior guard Kelvin McClean (Newport, Va./Heritage) hit 7-of-12 from the floor and added 17 points for the Bald Eagles in the loss.
Warren Christian (Baltimore, Md./Catonsville C.C.) had a solid game in the paint as he scored nine points, grabbed a team-high five boards and recorded four assists.
Freshman Eric Brennan (Chester, Pa./West Catholic-Philadelphia) added nine points.
Edinboro had four players in double figures in the contest. The Fighting Scots were led by Joe Jones and his game-high 27 points.
The Bald Eagles return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 11 when they host IUP in a PSAC West matchup. The tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.
