EDINBORO, Pa. – The Lock Haven University swim team capped off its regular season today at the Edinboro Fighting Scot Invite.
The Lady Eagles turned in some solid performances as they get ready for the upcoming Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships.
LHU head coach Andy Weager was pleased with the team’s performance today as The Haven recorded several season best times.
Leading the way for LHU was 2008 All-American Amanda Terray (Coaldale, Pa./Panther Valley), who looked solid leading up to the conference championships. She cruised to victory in both the 100 and 200 yard backstroke.
Terray won the 100 with a time of 58.79 and won the 200 in a time of 2:11.76. She also won the 50 yard freestyle
Kasey Campbell (Freasterville, Pa./Neshaminy) just missed her own school record in the 1,650 yard freestyle. She was first with a time of 18:29.82, good for the second fastest time in LHU history. Campbell’s first 1,000 yards was also impressive as she went through in 11:09.48, which marks the third fastest time in school history.
Shannon Samanka (Dubois, Pa./Dubois) was second in the 500 freestyle with a season-best time of 5:47.18.
Brittany Williams (North East, Pa./North East) hit a season best time in the 50 free. She swam a 26.56 in the 50 free and then came back and hit her best collegiate 50 free time ever in a time trial. She swam 26.37.
Campbell, along with Shannon Wilbur (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) both hit season-best marks in the 50 free. Wilbur’s time of 27.73 was also a lifetime-best.
Janel Kinard (Dallastown, Pa./Dallastown) hit a lifetime best in the 100 butterfly. She was first with a time of 1:04.60.
Kinard came back and smashed her lifetime best in the 200 butterfly by almost three second as she swam 2:25.04.
Waeger was very pleased with how his team closed out the regular season and he is looking forward to the conference championship.
The Lady Eagles will be back in action at the PSAC Championships, which kick off on Thursday, Feb. 19. Action runs through Sunday, Feb. 22 at Cumberland Valley High School in Mechanicsburg, Pa.
