SELINGSROVE, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men’s and women’s track & field teams turned in some solid performances as the Susquehanna Invitational.
Despite a limited number of athletes competing The Haven was represented well.
The Lady Eagles hit a total of 10 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying marks and The Haven men hit five as it was another well-rounded outing for Lock Haven.
Leading the way was for the Lady Eagles was Chelsea Morse (Beaver Dams, N.Y./Campbell-Savona), who was a two-time winner.
Morse won the high and long jump events. She won the high jump with a leap of 5-7 and also placed first in the long jump with a mark of 16-11.25.
Kristie Warren (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) turned in a strong outing the triple jump as she placed third overall with a mark of 34-07.75.
Randy Sylvia (Johnstown, Pa./Pine Richland) placed second in the weight throw to lead the Bald Eagles. His heave of 56-05.25 was good enough for second overall.
Chris Jones (Jersey City, N.J./Lincoln) continued his solid running and took third in the 400 meter dash with a time of 51.22.
This week both teams earned top-10 rankings in the NCAA Division II Track & Field Team Power Rankings.
The Lady Eagles are ranked No. 5 and the Bald Eagles come in ranked No. 6 in the initial poll of the season.
Both the men’s and women’s track & field teams return to action on Friday & Saturday, Feb. 13-14 at several different venues. The Haven will be represented at the Cornell Multis and Boston University’s St. Valentine Invitational.
