LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Blair Wynne (Arima, Trinidad and Tobago/Sangre Grande) and Tonia Marie James (D’Abadie, Trinidad and Tobago/Saint Augustine Girls High) of the Lock Haven University field hockey team recently had the opportunity to represent their county as they took part in the 2009 Pan American Cup as part of the Trinidad and Tobago team.
Wynne and James, both key components in the success the Lady Eagles saw on the field hockey field in 2008 also played valuable roles in Trinidad’s success as it finished fourth overall in the prestigious international tournament.
The tournament took place in Hamilton, Bermuda.
This was the ninth tournament after the inaugural cup took place in 2001.
Wynn scored the only goal for Trinidad and Tobago in the 7-1 loss to Argentina, the eventual champion. Wynne finished with three goals in the tournament.

With its 2-1 record in pool play, Trinidad advanced to take on the United States. The United States won 7-0.
The loss put Trinidad in the game for a third-place match.
In the third-place match against Chile, Wynne got things rolling quickly for Trinidad, as she scored just three minutes into the match. The goal would be the loan score of the first half and Trinidad-Tobago went into the half up 1-0.
Just as quickly as Wynn scored in the first half, Chile scored in the second as Fernanda Rodriguez found the back of the cage. Chile would score what would prove to be the winning goal in the 49th minute to clinch the bronze medal.
Trinidad and Tobago finished fourth.
The United States faced off against Argentina for the championship.
Argentina won on penalty strokes to take home the championship.
Wynne had a spectacular season for LHU in the fall of ’08 and capped it off with All-American honors. Wynne led the Lady Eagles in every major offensive category.
James logged some key minutes for LHU as she started all 17 of the matches she played in adding speed and strength to The Haven’s dynamic midfield.
