Baseball drops two games in the Sunshine State
 

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (2-6) dropped a doubleheader (13-5 & 18-3) against West Virginia Wesleyan (2-0) in the Central Florida Invitational as the Bald Eagles kicked off their spring break trip in Winter Haven, Fla.

Game one saw Bald Eagle pitcher Andrew Simonik (Jermyn, Pa./Lakeland) face off against the Bobcats’s Tyler Phares.

Lock Haven was unable to hold off Weslyan, as it scored thirteen runs off of 16 hits in game one.

The Bald Eagle touched home five times off nine hits and committed one error in the field.

Phares picked up the win and Simonik took the loss after five innings of work where he gave up 10 runs on 13 hits.

Also, seeing action on the mound for the Bald Eagles was Stephen Brush (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough), who saw one inning of work and gave up three runs on three hits.

The Bald Eagles did not fair any better in game two of the afternoon.

Weslyan picked up the win by scoring their 18 runs on 15 hits.

Bobcat Pitcher Cy Mozingo held the Bald Eagles to three runs on four hits as he picked up the win.

Hometown product Josh Rote (McElhattan, Pa./Central Mountain) got the start for Lock Haven on the mound in game two.

The Bald Eagles are back in action tomorrow (Sunday, March 1) when they take on St. Joseph's College of Indiana at noon in doubleheader action as part the Central Florida Invitational in Winter Haven, Fla.
