LHU Track And Field

Track & Field solid on Day 1 at PSAC Championships
 

EAST STROUSBURG, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men’s and women’s track & field teams turned a very solid outing on Day 1 at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships.

The PSAC Championships started today and run until tomorrow at East Stroudsburg University.

The Lady Eagle throwers are going to be a huge part of LHU’s overall team success and they turned in a stellar outing today in the weight throw.

Leading the way was Vanita Moses (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy), who won the weight with a school-record mark of 55-00.

The women’s weight throw was a big event for LHU as Alaina Leonard (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern) placed second, while JaKia Gumby (Middletown, Pa./Middletown) and Kristina Hamm (Roaring Springs, Pa./Central) were fifth and seventh, respectively.

Freshman Lindsey Lambert (Howell, N.J./Howell) was fourth in the 5K with a time of 17:32.56.

Christina Ohmott (Hatboro, Pa./Horsham) and Chelsea Morse (Beaver Dams, N.Y./Campbell-Savona) each added fourth-place finishes. Ohmott was fourth in the pole vault (10-11.75) and Morse took fourth in the long jump (17-08.25).

Cassie Snider (Dallas, Pa./Dallas) added a sixth-place showing in the long jump with a mark of 17.04.25.

The Lady Eagles 4x800 meter relay turned in a first-place showing providing big team points for The Haven.

The Bald Eagles also saw a number of tremendous Day-1 performances.

The Haven men picked up a win in the 4x800 meter relay and placed second in the distance medley relay.

Lock Haven was very well represented in the 5K. Tim Getz (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) took first overall with a time of 15:24.28.

Jed Yeatts (Mercersburg, Pa./James Buchanan) and Mitch Miller (Morrisville, N.Y./Morrisville-Eaton) were also strong at 5K, finishing fourth and seventh, respectively.

Randy Sylvia (Johnstown, Pa./Richland) took second in the weight throw (56-00) and Chad Yurchick (Johnsonburg,Pa./Johnsonburg Area) added an eighth-place finish.

Both teams are back in action tomorrow at ESU’s Koehler Fieldhouse. Action starts at 10:30 a.m.
