LAIE, Hawaii – The No. 15 Lock Haven University softball team (5-3) swept Brigham Young University Hawaii (7-13) today in Laie, Hawaii.
The Lady Eagles won game one 1-0 and took game two of the doubleheader 8-0 in six innings on the strength of a Kristin Erb (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) no-hitter.
In game one Ilia Lopez (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) and Sarah Norris (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) picked up LHU’s two hits.
Lopez drove in Lock Haven’s only run in the third, as she tagged a RBI-double that drove in Nancy O’Connor (West Chester, Pa./West Chester), who had walked.
Erb was solid in game one as she went the distance in the circle. She gave up five hits, walked two and struck out four.
In game Lock Haven was led by Erb’s no-hitter.
The Lady Eagles bats also came alive as they tagged BYU for eight runs on 13 hits.
Erb was sensational as she struck out six and walked just one.
LHU took the lead in the second inning and never looked back.
Norris was solid at the plate with a 2-for-3 outing. She hit a home run and recorded three RBIs.
Lopez went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs.
Julia Popovich (Lemont, Pa./State College) and Erica Eisenbise (Wernersville, Pa./Wilson) both went 2-for-2 at the plate. Popovich had one RBI.
The Lady Eagles are back in action on Friday, March 6 when they play their final doubleheader in Hawaii. LHU will take on Hawaii Pacific University at 1 p.m. (6 p.m. EST).
