WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (3-11) out slugged Gannon University 15-13 today in a scheduled nine-inning contest.
Lock Haven’s offense came alive today in Florida as the Bald Eagles tacked 15 runs on the scoreboard off of 16 hits.
Leading the way for The Haven was Matt Palko (Freeland, Pa./Hazelton Area), who had a monster day at the plate. He was 3-for-5 with two home runs and a double. Palko recorded five RBIs.
Kevin Kochka (Norristown, Pa./Methacton) and Jordan Yohn (Three Springs, Pa./Southern Huntingdon) each went 3-for-5 at the plate.
Mark Strouse (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) and Zach Schuler (Mt. Wolf, Pa./Spring Grove) both recorded two hits in the win.
Bobby Fiala (Pembroke Pines, Fla./Everglades) didn’t get the start on the mound for LHU, but came in and picked up the win.
Fiala went 4.3 innings and was very solid for LHU. He gave up just three hits and three runs while striking out three and walking five.
LHU’s final action of its Spring Break trip will be tomorrow (Saturday, March 7) when the Bald Eagles take on Assumption College in doubleheader action.
