LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The No. 5 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (5-1) scored early and often as the Lady Eagles defeated Edinboro University (2-3) 19-4 this afternoon on Charlotte E. Smith field.
A trio of Lady Eagles including Kayleigh Johnson (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport), Allison Berger (Oreland, Pa./Springfield) and Alexandra Cross (Owego, N.Y./Owego Free Academy) led the way on offense with a game-high three goals each.
The Haven did not waste any time putting points on the scoreboard, netting its first goal just 14 seconds into the contest as Johnson scored off of a pass from Leigh Titus (Towaco, N.J./Montville).
Johnson finished with a game-high four assists and Titus finished with two goals and three assists in the win.
The Lady Eagles continued the pressure throughout the first half, outshooting Edinboro 20-9. LHU led 12-2 at the break.
Lock Haven also played tough on the defensive end of the field by forcing 13 turnovers in the first half and another six in the second.
Scoring was just as furious in the start of the second half as it was from the first whistle of the game.
Clare Gaeng (Frederick, Md./Governor Thomas Jefferson) scored in the first 36 seconds of the second half of play as Lock Haven cruised to victory.
The Lady Eagles continue non-conference play as they host Notre Dame College (Ohio) on Saturday, March 21 at 2 p.m.
