SALEM, Va. – The Lock Haven University softball team (11-4) picked up its fifth straight win tonight as the Lady Eagles shutout Wheeling Jesuit 7-0 in Salem, Va.
The Lady Eagles seven runs came off 10 hits and LHU committed just one error in the game.
A huge force behind the win was a stellar performance in pitching circle by Kristin Erb (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township).
Erb went the distance to record the win.
She gave up just one hit and struck out 10.
Leading the way at the plate for LHU was Sarah Norris (West Chester, Pa./West Chester) and Amanda Gutmaker (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Northeast) as the two each went 2-for-4.
Norris hit a home run, had a double and recorded two RBIs.
Gutmaker scored two runs and drove in one.
Julia Popovich (Lemont, Pa./State College) recorded two hits for Lock Haven, as she went 2-for-3 with a stolen base.
The Lady Eagles return to action tomorrow in Salem, Va. LHU takes on West Virginia State and West Virginia Wesleyan. Lock Haven’s first game is at 11 a.m.
