LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The No. 5 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (6-1) picked up their second non-conference win in a row as it defeated Notre Dame College of Ohio (4-2) 25-5 this afternoon on Charlotte E. Smith field.
Allison Berger (Oreland, Pa./Springfield) stole the show in the first half by scoring The Haven’s first four goals of the contest. She also had one assist in the win after it was 4-0 Berger less than nine minutes into the game.
The Lady Eagles outshot Notre Dame 32-5 in the first half and secured more ground balls, edging the Falcons 21-8.
The furious play by Lock Haven led the Lady Eagles to a lopsided 18-0 halftime lead.
The second half saw Lock Haven continue their dominance on the field scoring another seven goals to secure win.
The Falcons lone scoring threat was Molly Merrill, who scored all of her team-high five goals in the second half.
Leigh Titus (Towaco, N.J./Montville) had another strong game for LHU with a team-high five goals. Her five goals came off six shots and she also dished out one assist.
Jacqueline Macone (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial), Kayleigh Johnson (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport), Amber Hoch (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) and Jamie Uzialko (Lima, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) each recorded a hat trick for Lock Haven.
Hoch and Clare Gaeng (Fredrick, Md./Governor Thomas Johnson) each had a team-high two assists for the Lady Eagles.
All three Haven goalkeepers including Heather Sacko (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport), Kira Nutall (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) and Nicole Necci (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) saw action in the win.
Sacko started the contest and recorded the win, while making five saves. Nutall and Necci shared time in goal during the second half.
The Lady Eagles return to action on Monday, March 23 when they return to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division play. Lock Haven hosts Slippery Rock University at 4 p.m.
