SALEM, Va. – The No. 15 Lock Haven University softball team (13-4) picked up two wins today at the Salem Tournament is Salem, Va.
Lock Haven downed West Virginia State 8-0 and followed it up with a 3-2 win over West Virginia Wesleyan in extra innings.
This morning LHU took on West Virginia State and picked up an 8-0 win.
The Lady Eagles scored eight runs on nine hits and committed zero errors, as they cruised to the win in six innings.
Kristin Erb (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) picked up the win, as she hurled a one-hitter for the second consecutive game. She stuck out four.
Meredith Morris (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) ended the game for Lock Haven, as she pinch-hit for the Lady Eagles in the bottom of the sixth. Morris hit a walk-off single to put the game away for LHU.
Erica Eisenbise (Wernersville, Pa./Wilson), Amanda Roosa (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Pompton Lakes), Amanda Gutmaker (Huntington Valley, Pa./Northeast) and Brittany Muthard (Northampton, Pa./Northampton) all homered for the crimson and white.
Gutmaker had a solid outing at the plate with a 2-for-3 performance. Along with her home run, she also hit a triple.
Julia Popovich (Lemont, Pa./State College) turned in a 1-for-2 outing and she also stole two bases.
In game two of the day Lock Haven edged West Virginia Wesleyan 3-2, thanks to Eisenbise’s game-winning RBI.
Erb was at it again in game two and turned in another sensational performance in the circle. She gave up just five hits and stuck out six. She allowed two runs, one of which was earned.
Lock Haven’s three runs came off five hits and LHU committed two errors. WVW’s two runs came off of five hits and they too recorded two errors.
Along with Eisenbise, Erb and Ilia Lopez (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) both recorded a RBI in the win.
