Bald Eagles drop two at Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (8-16) had a tough afternoon as they dropped both games of a doubleheader against Shippensburg University (12-16) on the road in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) cross-divisional matchup.

The Bald Eagles were shut out in game one 2-0.

Jordan Yohn picked up the loss for the Bald Eagles. Yohn gave up the two runs off five hits and struck out two in six innings on the mounds.

Shippensburg pitcher Tim Freshour went the distance and threw the team’s first no-hitter since April 1996.

Game two was another close matchup with the Bald Eagles dropping the contest 4-3.

The Lock Haven offense was scattered throughout the game as Mark Strouse (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) and Matt McCamley (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) each had one RBI each in the loss. Both Strouse and McCamley also had one hit each for The Haven.

Evan Petro (Johnstown, Pa./Richland), Zach Schuler (York Haven, Pa./Spring Grove) Ryan Griffin (Landsdale, Pa./Methacton) and Kevin Kochka (Norristown, Pa./ Methacton) also picked up a hit apiece.

Jermie Cook was given the loss after surrendering four runs off five hits. He also walked two and struck out two in four innings on the mound.

Tyler Rumsey (Mansfield, Pa./Mansfield) came in for relief in the fifth inning and gave up three hits and struck out two to finish the game.
