#15 Lady Eagles win two in Salem, down Fairmont State 6-0 on Erb’s no-hitter & cruise past Alderson-Broaddus 14-0

SALEM, Va. – The No. 15 Lock Haven University softball (15-4) went 2-0 for the second consecutive day in Salem, Va. at the Salem Invitational.

Once again the Lady Eagles got solid pitching from senior Kristin Erb (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) and the offense came alive as LHU got lopsided wins in both games.

The Haven downed Fairmont State 6-0 and cruised past Alderson-Broaddus 14-0 in five innings.

Erb was sensational against Fairmont State as she recorded a no-hitter. On the way to the no-hitter she struck out seven.

Brittany Muthard (Northampton, Pa./Northhampton) led the run support for Erb, as she went 3-for-3 at the plate. One of Muthard’s three hits was a home run and she recorded three RBIs in the win.

Amanda Gutmaker (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Northeast) also homered in the win over Fairmont.

Lock Haven had the bats going against Alderson-Broaddus, as the Lady Eagles put it away in five innings, winning 14-0.

Erb got the win with another strong effort in the circle. She worked all five innings and recorded nine strikeouts. She gave up only two hits in the win.

Muthard, Erb, Sarah Norris (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East), Ilia Lopez (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) and Jillian Johnstone (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) all hit home runs in the big win for LHU.

Johnstone made her first career home run a memorable one, drilling a grand slam.

The Lady Eagles return to action on Tuesday, March 24 at 2:30 p.m. when they travel to Mansfield for their Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Central Division opener.
