ERIE, Pa. – For the second consecutive day, the Lock Haven University baseball team (10-18, 5-3 PSAC West) earned in an important Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division split with Mercyhurst College (16-11, 8-4 PSAC West)

LHU dropped game one of the twin bill 6-1, but bounced back with solid 9-6 win.

In game one, Mercyhurst’s six runs came off 10 hits and LHU picked up its only run off six hits.

Matt Palko (Freeland, Pa./Hazelton Area) was LHU’s big bat in game one with a 2-for-3 performance.

Palko also accounted for Lock Haven’s only run, as one of his two hits was a homer in the top of the fourth inning. His homerun tied the game at 1-1.

Jordon Yohn (Three Springs, Pa./South Huntingdon) got the start in game one and went 4.2 innings, while taking the loss. He struck out three.

Lock Haven took game two 9-6, thanks in large part to a quality outing by Jeremie Cook (Venice, Fla./Venice), who went six innings on the mound for the Bald Eagles.

Cook scattered just three hits and struck out a trio of MC batters. He walked only two and allowed two runs, one of which was earned.

Cook helped his own cause in a big way with a 2-for-4 performance at the plate. He also recorded three RBIs.

Matt McCamley (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) also turned in a very solid game two at the plate, leading Lock Haven with a 3-for-4 outing. Along with Cook, McCamley also drove in three runs to help pace the Bald Eagles offensive output in the win.

The Haven’s nine runs came off nine hits.

LHU wasted little time in game two, going up 3-0 after the top half of the first.

Leading 3-1, heading into the third, the LHU bats came alive again as Lock Haven posted a six-run third inning burst to set the tone for the win.

The Bald Eagles return to action on Tuesday, March 31 at 1 p.m. when they host Bloomsburg.
