Simonik named PSAC West Pitcher of the Week

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Sophomore Andrew Simonik (Jermyn, Pa./Lakeland) of the Lock Haven University baseball team has been named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division Pitcher of the week for this recent efforts on the mound for the Bald Eagles.

Simonik came up big for The Haven on Friday in game one of a PSAC West doubleheader with Mercyhurst.

LHU took game one of the twin bill with Mercyhurst, thanks in large part to a tremendous pitching effort from Simonik.

The Bald Eagles won game one 1-0, as the game proved to be a pitchers dual between Simonik and MC’s Steve Grife.

Simonik was the victor after a sensational seven-inning outing on the mound. He pitched a three-hitter and struck out six, while allowing zero walks.

This is the first PSAC West Pitcher of the Week honor for Lock Haven this season.

Evan Petro (Johnstown, Pa./Richland) was named PSAC West Player of the Week earlier in the season (3/16).

The Bald Eagles are back in action tomorrow (Tuesday, March 31) when they host Bloomsburg University in PSAC Crossover action. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Foundation Field.
