LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Senior Kristin Erb (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) of the No. 6 Lock Haven University softball team has been named Louisville Slugger National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) National Pitcher of the Week for her efforts last week in leading the Lady Eagles on the diamond.
This honor comes after Erb was named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Central Division Pitcher of the Week for the third consecutive week.
Erb once again led the No. 9 Lady Eagles to perfect week, as The Haven went 4-0 with Erb earning the win in all four games.
She kicked off last week in a huge way on Tuesday, as LHU opened PSAC Central play.
In game one against Mansfield, Erb was perfect, as she stuck out 13 over six innings on the way to the perfect game.
Lock Haven downed Mansfield 9-0 in Erb perfect game one and followed that up with a 2-1 win to start 2-0 in division play.
In game two against Mansfield, Erb pitched a one-hitter while striking out nine.
She picked up both wins over Mercyhurst on Saturday, striking out 12 over the two games.
Over the four game span she struck out 34 batters and recorded a .26 ERA.
Erb already started this week off with a bang, as she is already 4-0 and closing in on the NCAA Division II all-time win mark for pitchers.
With two wins yesterday at Clarion, Erb improved to 140-16.
Her 140 wins put her just one win away from tying the NCAA all-time D-II mark for wins.
The record is 141 wins, which was set by California (Pa.) University’s Danielle Penner (1995-98).
Tomorrow, Erb could both tie and break the NCAA mark as LHU plays host to Indiana (Pa.) University in doubleheader action.
LHU plays host to IUP tomorrow in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Central Division action. Lock Haven is a perfect 4-0 on the year in Central Division action.
The games were originally scheduled for today (Wednesday, April 1), but have been moved to tomorrow (Thursday, April 2) at 2:30 p.m.
