Bald Eagles drop two at home to SRU in PSAC West action
 

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (11-21, 5-5 PSAC West) dropped a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division doubleheader to Slippery Rock University (23-9, 9-5 PSAC West) this afternoon at Foundation Field.

LHU lost game one 17-3 and dropped game two 9-3 in eight innings.

Zach Schuler (York Haven, Pa./Spring Grove) and Kevin Kochka (Norristown,Pa./Methacton) were the offensive leaders for The Haven in game one.

Schuler went 2-for-4 with one RBI and Kochka added two hits and one RBI.

Mark Strouse (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) also had a RBI and one single for Lock Haven.

Andrew Simonik (Jermyn, Pa./Lakeland High School) got the start on the mound for the Bald Eagles and took the loss.

Dan Knapp (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) and Eric Christensen (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) also saw action in relief.

Game two was tied 3-3 after a sixth-inning RBI-single from Evan Petro (Johnstown, Pa./Richland), which put LHU back in the game.

Neither team was able to secure the victory in the seventh inning and the eighth proved to be tough one for Bald Eagle fans, as The Rock tacked on six runs to secure the victory.

Senior Ted Stake (Lewistown, Pa./Indian Valley) led the offense for LHU, as he was a perfect 2-for-2 from the plate. Matt McCamley (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) also had one RBI and one hit in the game two loss.

Despite picking up the loss, Jordan Yohn (Three Springs, Pa./South Huntingdon) pitch a solid game, striking out seven batters.

Slippery Rock’s Scott Dunn worked a complete game on the way to the win in game one. He struck out 10 and in game two SRU’s Brett Vescovi picked up the win.

The Bald Eagles return to action tomorrow, April 5 when they travel to Slippery Rock for a PSAC Western Division doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
