#6 Lady Eagles sweep West Chester, win 2-0 & 6-2

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The No. 6 Lock Haven University softball team (27-4) continued its winning ways today, as the Lady Eagles swept host West Chester University (21-13).

The Haven won game one 2-0 and LHU took down WCU 6-2 in the second game of the doubleheader.

Six different Lady Eagles recorded hits in the game-one win.

Brittany Muthard (Northampton, Pa./Northampton) hit her fourth home run of the season off a solo shot to left in the top of the second inning to lead the offensive charge for LHU.

Lock Haven scored the insurance run in the top of the third to help pave the way for the game-one victory this afternoon at WCU.

The two runs is all pitcher Kristen Erb (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) needed, as she dominated hitters yet again with a complete game, 11-strikeout performance. Erb gave up only six hits and one walk in the win.

Game two was more of an offensive showing for The Haven, as Muthard once again put one out of the park and finished the game with two hits and a team-high four RBIs.

Amanda Roosa (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Pompton Lakes) was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate.

Sarah Norris (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) hit her 11th home run of the season on a solo shot to left in the top of the fifth inning.

Erb once again went the distance and struck out 10, while picking up the win in the circle.

The Lady Eagles return to action tomorrow, April 5 when they travel to Bloomsburg University to play their local-rival in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Central Division action. First pitch tomorrow is scheduled for 1 p.m.
