LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The No. 6 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (11-2, 5-1 PSAC West) took down Indiana (Pa.) University (3-6, 1-4 PSAC West) 20-14 today in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division action.
Lock Haven jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, but the Lady Eagles and host-IUP were tied at 7-7 after the first 30 minutes of play.
Indiana led 12-10 with just over 20 minutes to play in regulation.
Lock Haven responded late in a big way and a Kayleigh Johnson (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) goal jumped started a five-goal run for Lock Haven.
It was that five-goal run that put LHU up 15-12 and set the tone for The Haven’s important road win.
Johnson finished with a game-high six goals.
Leigh Titus (Towaco, N.J./Montville) and Jamie Uzialko (Lima, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) each scored five goals in the win.
Kate Smyth (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury) helped pace Lock Haven’s attack with a four-point game. She scored twice and set up two other LHU goals.
Allison Berger (Oreland, Pa./Springfield) chipped in with a pair of goals.
Kira Nuttall (Baltimore/Loch Raven) picked up the win for LHU in the net after coming and playing the final 25:43. It was her four saves and solid play down the stretch that kept Lock Haven in the game.
Lock Haven returns to action on Saturday, April 11 at 1 p.m. when they travel to local-rival Bloomsburg University.
