INDIANA, Pa. – The No. 5 Lock Haven University softball team (34-5, 11-1 PSAC Central) swept Indiana (Pa.) University (16-16, 3-7 PSAC Central) today in an all-important Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Central Division doubleheader.

Lock Haven took game one, 9-0 (5 innings) and LHU downed host-IUP 8-0 (6 innings) in game two.

The Lady Eagles got off to a tremendous start in game one, as Ilia Lopez (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomburg) hit a leadoff home run to put LHU up 1-0 after one inning.

LHU’s nine runs came off nine hits and The Haven tacked on three runs in the top of the third to pave the way for the big game-one win.

Erica Eisenbise (Wernersville, Pa./Wilson) went 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs.

Amanda Gutmaker (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Northeast) also had a two-hit game, as she went 2-for-2. Gutmaker also drove in two runs.

Lock Haven’s ace was at it again and picked up the five-inning win. Kristin Erb (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) finished with 10 strikeouts and only gave up four hits, while allowing just one walk.

Erb was right back at it in game two, leading LHU to the 8-0 win. Erb went all six innings and struck out seven, while allowing just two hits.

Over the two game span, Erb gave up just six hits and struck out a total of 17, while allowing just one walk in 11 total innings of action.

In game two, Lock Haven’s eight runs came off 13 hits with 10 different Lady Eagles recording at least one hit.

Amanda Roosa (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Pompton Lakes) went 3-for-3 with one RBI to lead LHU.

Gutmaker had another strong showing at the plate with a 2-for-2 performance. She also recorded one RBI.

The Lady Eagles return to action on Friday, April 17 at 2:30 p.m. when they play host to Clarion University in Central Division action.
