CLARION, Pa. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (12-26, 6-8 PSAC West) split a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division doubleheader at Clarion University (11-20, 6-8 PSAC West) today.

Clarion won game one, 10-2, but LHU responded in game two and picked up a 7-5 win in a very important divisional twin bill this afternoon.

In game one, Lock Haven’s two runs came off eight hits.

Matt McCamley (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) led LHU at the plate with a 2-for-3 performance.

Mark Strouse (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) also had two hits, as he went 2-for-4 at the plate in game one.

Andrew Simonik (Jermyn, Pa./Lakeland) got the start on the mound for LHU, but was credited with the loss after three innings of action. He did strike out a trio before giving way to Dan Knapp (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg).

In game two, LHU picked up its seven runs on 13 hits, as the bats came alive for the Bald Eagles.

Zach Schuler (Mt. Wolf, Pa./Spring Grove) led the way with a 4-for-4 outing.

Evan Petro (Johnstown, Pa./Richland) turned in a solid effort at the plate, as he went 3-for-5 with a RBI.

Brian Kochik’s (Snow Shoe, Pa./Bald Eagle Area) made his one hit in game two count, as he went yard with a three-run home run in the top of fifth-inning.

Kochik’s three-run blast put Lock Haven up 7-2.

LHU led 7-3 heading into the bottom of the seventh and Clarion did all it could to mount a late rally, but the Bald Eagles held on for the important PSAC West win.

Jordan Yohn (Three Springs, Pa./Southern Huntingdon) pitched a complete-game effort, while picking up the win.

Yohn went all seven innings and gave up eight hits. He walked only three and struck out six.

The Bald Eagles return to action to on Monday, April 13 at 1 p.m. when they play host to this same Clarion team in part-two of their four-game series. LHU was scheduled to host Clarion yesterday, but the games were moved to Monday because of weather.
