#3 Lady Eagles sweep Clarion in PSAC Central action, win 8-0 in both games, Erb throws back-to-back no hitters

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The No. 3 Lock Haven University softball team (36-5, 13-1 PSAC Central) swept its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Central Division doubleheader against Clarion University (5-29, 0-14 PSAC Central) this afternoon ib Lawrence Field.

LHU did not give up a run, as the Lady Eagles blanked Clarion 8-0 in six innings in game one and 8-0 in five innings in game two.

Kristen Erb (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) pitched two gems as she threw consecutive no-hitters. Erb did not allow a hit or give up a walk and struck out a total of 16 batters en route to picking up wins number-34 and 35 on the season.

Erb was perfect in game one and tossed a no-hitter in game two.

On the offensive end, Lock Haven hitters had no problem putting the ball in play in both games.

In game one, eight players had hits for the Lady Eagles.

Nancy O’Connor (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs in the win.

Julia Popovich (Lemont, Pa./State College) and Erica Eisenbise (Wernersville, Pa./Wilson) had two hits each, with Popovich also driving in one run.

Sarah Norris (West Chester, Pa./West Chester) only had one hit, but it was a two-run blast that was a part of a Lady three-run third inning.

LHU’s offensive prowess continued into game two, as the Lady Eagles once again shut out Clarion 8-0.

Lock Haven only needed five innings to secure the win and a grand-slam home run by Ilia Lopez (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) in the bottom of the fourth inning would put the victory for the Lady Eagles within striking distance.

Lopez finished game two with two hits and four RBIs.

A total of seven players had hits for The Haven in the win.

In addition to Lopez, Bittany Muthard (Northampton, Pa./Northampton), Erb and Eisenbise also had two hits in the win.

Erb, Eisenbise, O’Connor and Amanda Roosa (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Pompton Lakes) also had one RBI in game two.

Erb now has six perfect games in her career and 12 no-hitters.

LHU returns to action tomorrow (Saturday, April 18) when it faces local rival Bloomsburg University, ranked 16th in PSAC Central Division action. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. as LHU celebrates Senior Day.
