LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Senior Amber Hoch (Souderton, Pa./Souderton) and Kathleen Zichelli (South Orange, N.J./Columbia) of the No. 4 Lock Haven University lacrosse team have been honored with Women’sLacrosse.com weekly awards.
Hoch was named the Offensive Player of the Week and Zichelli took home Defensive Player of the Week honors after the duo was a huge reason behind Lock Haven’s most recent 3-0 week, where the Lady Eagles took home the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship.
Hoch recorded 17 total points over the three-game span. She scored a team-high 15 goals and dished out a pair of assists.
In The Haven’s PSAC Semifinal win over local-rival Bloomsburg University, Hoch scored six goals to go along with two assists.
In the Championship game, she netted five goals to help pace LHU.
Zichelli led Lock Haven’s run to the PSAC title by anchoring The Haven’s defensive unit.
Over the three-game span, Zichelli scooped up a team-best 24 ground balls and caused a team-high 11 caused turnovers. She also contributed 10 draw controls.
In the PSAC Championship game, Zichelli had 10 ground balls and caused two turnovers.
The Lady Eagles await the NCAA Division II Lacrosse Championship selection, which will come on Sunday evening (May 3). Three teams from each region will be selected to take part in the D-II lax tournament. The No. 1 seeds from each region receive a bye into the national semifinals in Salem, Va. The No. 2 seeds will host the No. 3 seeds within their regions in the first round on May 9.
