#2 Lady Eagles down Cal (Pa.) 3-0 to advance to tomorrow’s NCAA Atlantic Region 1 Championship game

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The No. 2 Lock Haven University softball team (43-5) downed California (Pa.) University (34-9) 3-0 today in NCAA Division II Atlantic Region 1 Softball Tournament action.

Yesterday, LHU cruised past Bowie State 8-0 in five innings, thanks in large part to a Kristin Erb (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) perfect game and today’s win puts the Lady Eagles in tomorrow’s Region 1 Championship game.

Lock Haven will face Cal in a rematch of today’s game, as the Vulcans downed Shippensburg University in today’s final game,2-0 in nine innings.

Ship earned the right to take on Cal, after SU eliminated Bowie State.

Erb turned in another solid pitching effort today; as she picked up the four-hit shutout win. Over seven innings of action, she struck out five and walked nobody.

Lock Haven’s three runs came off five hits.

Leading the way at the plate was Sarah Norris (West Chester, Pa./West Chester), who went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

LHU went up 2-0 in the top of the third and never looked back, tacking on an insurance-run in the fifth.

The win marked the 200th for Lock Haven’s senior class.

LHU and Cal will meet for the Region 1 Championships tomorrow (Sunday, May 10) at noon on Lawrence Field.
