Honors keep coming for #2 Lady Eagles, six players named NFCA All-Region
 

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Six members of the No. 2 Lock Haven University softball team have picked up 2009 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II All-Atlantic Region honors.

Five of the six Lady Eagles earned a spot on the First Team.

The First Team awards go to pitcher Kristen Erb (Reading, Pa./Exter Township), catcher Amanda Roosa (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Pompton Lakes), shortstop Ilia Lopez (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg), third baseman Sarah Norris (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) and outfielder Erica Eisenbise (Wernersville, Pa./Wilson).

Picking up Second Team honors for LHU was designated player Brittany Muthard (Northampton, Pa./Northampton).

This is Erb’s second All-Region honor, as she headlined the Daktronics All Region team as the Pitcher of the Year.

Erb, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Central Division Pitcher of the Year has a 0.45 ERA with 43 wins (43-4) and 344 strikeouts to-date.

When facing Erb, opponents have struggled collectively, as she’s issued just 22 walks, while giving up only one home run so far this season. She’s restricting batters to a collective .156 batting average.

Offensively, Erb has a .284 batting-average with four home runs and 24 RBIs.

Lopez leads the team in three offensive categories to-date, including hits (58), RBIs (38) and doubles (14). She also shares the team lead in stolen bases with 13 and has contributed eight home runs so far this season.

It is not just Lopez’s play at the plate that has helped her secure the first team nod. At short, she has 48 putouts and 66 assists.

Eisenbise has the fourth best batting average for LHU, hitting .338. She has 44 hits, 21 RBIs and has hit three bombs on the season. Defensively, she has 26 putouts, two assists and has committed only three errors in right field this season.

Norris, the PSAC Central Player of the Year is hitting .353 with a team-best 13 home runs. She also has a team-best .679 slugging-percentage and has driven in 32 runs.

Norris only has three errors all season and a sensational .972 fielding-percentage at the hot corner.

Roosa has been a leader behind the plate for The Haven. Along with solid defense, she’s also provided clutch hitting for LHU. She’s hitting .326 with 33 RBIs and six home runs. Roosa has been credited with .355 putouts.

Muthard is hitting .345 with nine home runs and 35 runs-batted-in. She has six doubles and a .637 slugging-percentage.

Lock Haven returns to action tomorrow in NCAA Division II Super Regional action. The Lady Eagles are scheduled to take on No. 11 Kutztown at noon at Lawrence Field. The Super Regional is a best-of-three series.
