Four Lady Eagles named All-American, Zichelli named Defensive Player of the Year
 

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Sophomore Kathleen Zichelli (South Orange, N.J./Columbia) of the Lock Haven University lacrosse team headlined the Lady Eagles four Women’sLacrosse.com Division II All-Americans with a Defensive Player of the Year award.

Zichelli was named Defensive Player of the Year, after leading the nation in ground balls and caused turnovers.

Along with Zichelli, three other Lady Eagles were named All-American.

Lock Haven finished the season 18-4 overall, won the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship and earned a berth in the into the NCAA D-II title game.

Zichelli was a huge reason behind that success, as she was a game-changer on the defensive side of the ball in every game for The Haven.

She has 97 ground balls and caused 51 turnovers, while also recording 39 draw controls. Zichelli also chipped in offensively with two goals.

Joining the Zichelli on the First Team was junior Leigh Titus (Towaco, N.J./Montville).

Titus was a huge part of the Lady Eagles explosive offensive attack. She scored a team-high 68 goals. She finished with 30 assists and 98 total points. Titus netted four game-winners on the year.

Senior Amber Hoch (Souderton, Pa./Souderton) and freshman Kayleigh Johnson (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) both landed a spot on the All-American Second Team.

Hoch, The Haven’s lone senior scored 71 goals and notched 94 total points. She led the team in game-winning tallies with eight.

Johnson was an impact player from her first step in crimson and white and led Lock Haven in points with 104. She scored 66 goals and added a team-high 38 helpers.

Johnson was joined by fellow classmate Kate Smyth (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury) on the All-Rookie team. Smyth started 18 games and scored 26 goals for Lock Haven.

Lock Haven was 18-4 overall and fell in the National Championship game. The Lady Eagles were PSAC Champions and won the PSAC West regular season title by way of their 7-1 conference mark.
