Five Lady Eagles earn IWLCA All-Region honors

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Five members of the National runner up Lock Haven University lacrosse team have picked up Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-South Region Team honors.

Four Lady Eagles earned a spot on the First Team, while one from The Haven grabbed a spot on the Second Team.

Senior Amber Hoch (Souderton, Pa./Souderton), junior Leigh Titus (Towaco, N.J./Montville), sophomore Kathleen Zichelli (South Orange, N.J./Columbia) and freshman Kayleigh Johnson (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) all earned a spot on the First Team, while rookie Kate Smyth (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury) was a second team selection.

Hoch, The Haven’s lone senior scored 71 goals and notched 94 total points. She led the team in game-winning tallies with eight.

Titus was a huge part of the Lady Eagles explosive offensive attack. She scored a team-high 68 goals. She finished with 30 assists and 98 total points. Titus netted four game-winners on the year.

Zichelli was a huge reason behind that success, as she was a game-changer on the defensive side of the ball in every game for The Haven.

She has 97 ground balls and caused 51 turnovers, as both numbers led the nation in their respective category. Zichelli also chipped in offensively with two goals.

Johnson was an impact player from her first step in crimson and white and led Lock Haven in points with 104. She scored 66 goals and added a team-high 38 helpers.

Smyth started 18 games and scored 26 goals for Lock Haven.

Lock Haven was 18-4 overall and fell in the National Championship game. The Lady Eagles were Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Champions and won the PSAC West regular season title by way of their 7-1 conference mark.
