LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Kelley Green, who most recently led the Lock Haven University softball team to its second Division-II National Championship in four years, has accepted the head coach position at D-I Coastal Carolina University.
In 10 seasons at the helm of the Lady Eagle program, Green went 346-134 (.721) while turning The Haven into a D-II softball power.
The 2009 National Championship marked Lock Haven’s second in a four-year span.
Following their efforts in leading LHU in ’09, Green and her assistant coach Kelly Shannon were named National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II Coaching Staff of the Year.
“It is with very mixed feelings that I view Kelley’s departure from our program,” said LHU Director of Athletics Sharon E. Taylor. “She came here 10 years ago, rebuilt the program we had, and then took it to the very pinnacle of what is possible in intercollegiate athletics. I always knew that a return to Division I was Kelley’s goal, and she did great things for LHU on her path to that goal.”
Kelley Green is simply one of the very best softball coaches in the country, and Coastal Carolina is fortunate to be the beneficiary of her knowledge, work ethic and the very high standards she demands in her program,” added Taylor. “I wish her every success.”
