LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Lock Haven University has announced that former Lady Eagle Danielle Fraser has been named the new assistant softball coach.
Fraser, a 2006 graduate of LHU was a member of the Lady Eagles 2006 National Championship team.
She’s spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach with Division III Allegheny College in Meadville, Pa.
Fraser graduated from Lock Haven with a degree in Health and Physical Education and was a captain on the ’06 squad that won the programs first of two National Crowns.
Fraser was a certainly a big part of The Haven’s success during her playing days. She played in 141 games and was a two-time All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) First Team selection at first base. During that ’06 campaign, Fraser hit .391, which is the 10th best single season average in school history.
Fraser, who was a volunteer student assistant coach at LHU 2007 couldn’t be more pleased about returning to alma mater.
“I’m extremely happy to return to Lock Haven,” Fraser said. “It’s an honor and I’m excited to work with a program that has a tremendous amount of success and tradition.”
Head coach Kelly Shannon is also excited about having Fraser join her staff.
“I am extremely excited to have Danielle (Fraser) join the softball staff here at Lock Haven,” Shannon said. “As a four-year member of the LHU softball team from 2003-2006, she was an integral part of the rise of our softball program to the National ranks.”
“She has spent the last two seasons with Allegheny College gathering tons of experience and I know she is ready to take on this new challenge in her career,” Shannon added.
Lock Haven Director of Athletics Sharon E. Taylor is also pleased with the announcement of Fraser’s hire.
“We are very pleased that Danielle has accepted the invitation to join our softball staff; she and coach Shannon have a great working relationship,” Taylor said. “Danielle's knowledge of the 'LHU system' will be helpful to our continuity, and her years working with other programs have given her valuable experiences that she can share to the team's benefit.”
