TAMPA, Fla. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (1-1) picked up the first win of its season this evening as the Lady Eagles cruised past Georgian Court 3-0 at the University of Tampa Classic.
Yesterday, LHU fell to host and No. 10 ranked Tampa 3-0, but bounced back today nicely improving to 1-1 on the young season.
LHU took down GC tonight in three straight games winning 25-21, 25-21 and 25-21.
Haley Gribler (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy-Liberty) and Xuan Gao (Dong Ying, China/Zibo No. 10 Middle School) both had eight kills.
Kim Windstein (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) hit .400 with five kills, while also adding two solo blocks.
Grace Novacek (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) and Christie Naumann (Charters Towers, Australia/Gladstone) each recorded six kills in the win. Novacek hit .384, while Naumann also had a team-high three aces and 11 digs.
Fabiana Gomez (Montevideo, Uruguay/Consejo de E.S.) recorded 33 assists and also had four blocks, including three solo blocks.
The Lady Eagles hit the court again tomorrow at the Tampa Classic when they take on Wheeling Jesuit.
