LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University field hockey team and head coach Pat Rudy have announced that six players will join the Lady Eagles in 2009.
The six players that make up Lock Haven’s class of 2013 are Teresa Lezama (D’Abadie, Trinidad & Tobago/St. Joseph’s Port-of-Spain), Nicole Weaknecht (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown Area), Brooke Varner (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg), Sarah Wilson (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) Kelsie Minich (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern York) and Kelsey Moll (Newmanstown, Pa./Elco).
Lezama, a midfielder will look to make an immediate impact on the Lady Eagles. Rudy calls her a great shooter and expects big things from her. Lezama also brings with her a very strong academic background, which has become a staple for the Lady Eagle field hockey program.
Weaknecht is an athletic forward, who is very fast. Rudy looks for her to bring a lot of energy to the field and says she’s a player with a ton of potential.
Varner is a midfielder, who is skilled and tough according to Rudy. She’ll bring an athletic force to the midfield and strengthen an already deep core in the middle of the field for Lock Haven.
Wilson, a defender comes from a very strong high school program and a player who can add a lot of speed to the Lock Haven’s defense.
Minnich is a forward, who has a tremendous passion for the game according to Rudy. She brings a lot of experience to the field and will look to step in and help the team right from the start.
Moll is a goalkeeper with the potential to be a very good player in Lock Haven’s system. She’ll help strengthen a very important position for The Haven.
All six players will look to help make their mark on the storied program that is Lock Haven field hockey.
