Field Hockey drops OT-thriller on the road at Cornell 2-1

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Lock Haven University field hockey team (3-2) fell to host-Cornell (4-0) 2-1 in an overtime-thriller today on the road.

The Lady Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute after Suzann Hobart (Lewisberry, Pa./Red Land) knocked home her team-leading fourth goal of the season.

Hobart got a perfect pass from Amy Hordendorf (Topton, Pa./Brandywine Heights).

Lock Haven led 1-0 after the first 35 minutes of play, but Cornell tied the match at 1-1 with just 37 second left in regulation.

Cornell’s late-game fireworks weren’t done there and Kelly Kantarian scored 1:35 into overtime to give the hosts the non-conference win.

Lock Haven got another tremendous effort from goalkeeper Erin Terreson (Robesonia, Pa./Conrad Weiser), who made nine saves to keep The Haven in the game throughout.

Lock Haven gets right back at it tomorrow when the Lady Eagles play host to Kent State 1 p.m. on Charlotte E. Smith Field.
