LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (8-2) extended its win streak to six matches with wins over Stonehill and Northern Kentucky today at the Lady Eagles own LHU Classic Tournament.

Lock Haven downed Stonehill 3-0 (25-8, 25-20 & 27-25) and followed that up with a 3-1 win over Northern Kentucky (28-26, 17-25, 25-20 & 25-23).

Rookie Xuan Gao (Dong Ying, China/Zibo No. 10 Middle School) led Lock Haven in the win over Stonehill, as she turned in an 18-kill effort. She hit a sizzling .615.

Sophomore Haley Gribler (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy-Liberty) recorded 10 kills.

Fabiana Gomez (Montevideo, Uruguay/Consejo de E.S.) had a match-high 28 assists in the three-set win.

Gomez also had three aces while Xuan had two.

In the win over Northern Kentucky, Xuan was at it again. She hit .463 and tallied 22 kills to pace Lock Haven’s offense.

Gribler had another tremendous effort and recorded 13 kills in the win. She also had 13 digs.

Christie Naumann (Charters Towers, Australia/Gladstone) knocked down a dozen kills in the win.

Gomez was again sensational and recorded 41 assists.

Christina Laury (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) had a team-high 14 digs.

Lock Haven returns to action next Friday, September 18 when they travel to California (Pa.) University for Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover action. LHU plays Clarion and host-Cal on Friday.
