LHU Soccer - Men

Men’s Soccer Drops Battle of PSAC Unbeatens, 1-0 to Slippery Rock

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.- The Lock Haven University men’s soccer team (5-2, 3-1 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) fell to Slippery Rock University (4-2-1, 3-1-1 PSAC) 1-0 today at Slippery Rock

Slippery Rock, who always plays head coach Doug Moore’s squad tough, opened the contest strong right out of the gate, and looked very strong in the first 20 minutes of the opening half.

However, the talented Lock Haven squad redounded, taking control in the last 30 minutes of the half, but failing to put a goal up, making the score 0-0 at half time.

In the first minute of the second half, Slippery Rock capitalized on an opportunity, with Jeremy Deighton assisted Nick Christy on the only goal of the game on a miscue by the Bald Eagle defense.

The Bald Eagles proceeded to pound The Rock for the next 44 minutes hitting the posts twice in that span. Goalkeeper Greg Blum made several key saves in the second half, ending the day with 7 saves and tallied up the win for The Rock, 1-0

Senior Chad Feerrar (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) lost his second consecutive game for the haven, allowing the lone goal while making six saves.

The Bald Eagles return home to the friendly confines of McCollum Field this Saturday, Sept. 15 at 1 p.m. and will take on the Huskies of Bloomsburg University.
