HAMILITON, N.Y. – Junior Amy Hordendorf (Topton, Pa./Brandywine Heights) scored a hat trick to help lead the Lock Haven University field hockey team (4-3) past Colgate (0-6) 5-1 today on the road.
The Lady Eagles were dominant in every facet of the game as they soared past their hosts.
Hordendorf led the way with her three-goal performance that helped The Haven snap a rare two-game losing skid.
With the loss, Colgate remained winless on the year.
In just the 11th minute of play Hordendorf made it 1-0.
A little over one minute later Casey Hughes (Schwenksville, Pa./Souderton) made it 2-0 after scoring off a penalty corner. Hughes’s tally proved to be the eventual game-winner.
The Lady Eagles led 2-0 at the break and Hordendorf opened the second half with two straight tallies to make 4-0 in favor of LHU.
Colgate was able to get one back and make it 4-1 in the 65th minute, but just minutes later Lock Haven put one more on the board. This time it was Mary Keister (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg), who found the back of the cage and put Lock Haven well on the way to victory.
Lock Haven goalkeeper Erin Terreson (Robesonia, Pa./Conrad) made four saves in the win.
The Haven’s dominate play was evident in their 25-6 advantage in shots. LHU also held an advantage in penalty corners, 11-6.
Lock Haven is right back at it on Sunday, September 20, when the Lady Eagles host La Salle University at 1 p.m. on Charlotte E. Smith Field.
