Hordendorf’s two goals lift Lady Eagles past Temple

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Junior Amy Hordendorf (Topton, Pa./Brandywine Heights) scored two goals to help the Lock Haven University field hockey team (6-3) soar past Temple University today in its 2009 Homecoming match-up.

Temple’s Charise Young scored the first tally of the afternoon in the 11th minute of play.

The Haven’s Suzann Hobart (Lewisberry, Pa./Red Land) responded with a goal to tie the game before halftime.

An all-around team effort from the Lady Eagles in the second half of play sent Temple home with a loss.

Hordendorf’s two goals were each scored off penalty corners and assisted by Alanna Lewis (Trinidad & Tobago/Southeast Port-of-Spain).

Midfielder Megan Albert (Liverpool, Pa./Greenwood) had a solid showing adding one goal and one assist on the day.

Lock Haven got a solid defensive effort today from several players, including a five-save effort by goalkeeper Erin Terreson (Robesonia, Pa./Conrad Weiser).

Along with Lewis, Casey Hughes (Schwenksville, Pa./Souderton) played well defensively in LHU’s homecoming victory.

Lock Haven outshot Temple 20-8 and held an 11-6 advantage in penalty corners.

The Lady Eagles are back in action tomorrow (Sunday, September 27) at 1 p.m. when they host Saint Joseph’s in non-conference action.
