SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – A total-team effort helped the Lock Haven University women’s soccer team (3-6-1, 2-5-1 PSAC West) earn a hard-fought 1-1 double-overtime draw on the road at perennial power Slippery Rock University (5-3-2, 3-3-2 PSAC West) today in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action.
The Lady Eagles needed to come from behind to knot the game at 1-1 after their hosts went up 1-0 in the 38th minute of play.
Alison Hindley put SRU up 1-0, when she scored off a breakaway at the 37:39 mark.
SRU led 1-0 at halftime.
The Lady Eagles earned the equalizer in the 60th minute after Carly D’Orsaneo (Elverson, Pa./Living Word Academy) knocked home a ball in front of the net.
Jessie Cox (Elverson, Pa./Living Word Academy) was credited with the assist on the goal at the 59:13 mark.
Lock goalkeeper Kim Bentley (Springdale, Pa./Springdale) made six saves to keep Lock Haven in the game throughout.
The match was still knotted at 1-1 after 90 minutes and neither team could find the back of the net in the extra 20 minutes of play.
LHU head coach Heather Davis was extremely proud of her teams’ ability to fight back on the road on its way to the valuable point. She credited the effort from everyone, saying “that was made possible from the first player on the field, to the last player and everyone on the bench.”
The Lady Eagles are back in action on Saturday, October 10 at noon when they play host to Millersville University.
