SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (13-4, 3-0 PSAC East) improved to a perfect 3-0 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East action, as the Lady Eagles rolled past host Shippensburg University 3-0 tonight.
The Lady Eagles won 25-22, 25-12 and 25-19.
Lock Haven found themselves down 20-18 in game one, but LHU head coach Tom Justice called a timeout and from there, LHU never looked back.
The Haven went on a 7-2 run to take home the match’s opening set and LHU cruised in games two and three.
Leading the way for Lock Haven was Haley Gribler (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy-Liberty), who had a team-high 14 kills. Gribler was solid all over the court for LHU and also had two aces and 14 digs. She hit .400 for the match.
Christie Naumann (Charters Towers, Australia/Gladstone) added 10 kills and 12 digs, while Xuan Gao (Dong Ying, China/Zibo No. 10 Middle School) wasn’t far off the pace with nine kills, 13 digs and three block assists.
Fabiana Gomez (Montevideo, Uruguay/Consejo de E.S.) was her usual self with 32 assists and 12 digs.
Erin Walsh (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) made her first appearance for LHU as the libero and was very effective with a team-high 20 digs.
Lock Haven is back in action tomorrow at 1 p.m. on the road at Millersville for PSAC East action.
