WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Lock Haven University field hockey (9-3) team jumped out to a commanding 3-0 lead at halftime and shutout host West Chester University (5-6) 4-0 today in non-conference action.
The Lady Eagles were led by senior-forward Suzann Hobart (Lewisberry, Pa./Red Land), who scored two goals, while setting up a third.
LHU went up 1-0 in the 22nd minute of play on Hobart’s first of two strikes.
Less than four minutes later, Hobart set up Kristi Shepps (Willow Street, Pa./Penn Manor), who made it 2-0 in favor of The Haven.
A few minutes before halftime Hobart made it 3-0, as she had a hand in Lock Haven’s first three goals.
LHU led 3-0 at halftime and added a fourth goal in the 64th minute, as Mary Keister (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg) converted on a penalty stroke.
Amy Hordendorf (Topton, Pa./Brandywine Heights) was credited with the assist on Lock Haven’s third goal.
LHU goalkeeper Erin Terreson (Robesonia, Pa./Conrad Weiser) made four saves to help preserve the shutout. It was the third shutout of the season for Terreson.
Lock Haven outshot WCU 14-5.
The Lady Eagles return to action on Tuesday (October 6) night at 7 p.m. when they host Bucknell.
