LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock University men’s soccer team (4-6-2, 1-5 PSAC West) was edged at home today by Mercyhurst College (9-3, 4-1 PSAC West) 2-1 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action.

The Bald Eagles went up 1-0 in the 13th minute on a Greg Sherzter (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) goal.

Shertzer ran onto a ball, as Mercyhurst goalie Diego Gustin was charging out. Shertzer made one move to his left and cut past a frozen Gustin, where he was able to slot the ball into the open net.

MC found an equalizer in the 28th minute of play and things were leveled at 1-1 heading in the locker rooms.

Just 1:14 into the second half David Miller put Mercyhurst up 2-1 when he headed home a long ball onto the far post.

The Bald Eagles applied constant pressure in the final minutes of the match, but couldn’t find the tying goal down the stretch.

LHU goalkeeper Chad Badorf (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) made three saves.

Lock Haven is back in action on Saturday, October 10 at 2 p.m. when the play host to PSAC-rival East Stroudsburg.
